I Priscilla Tavenor was Baptized by Mr. Richard Hobbs elder of the Church in Dover in the river near to Nicolas Holingbury's the eight day of July in the year 1672, being 17 years and 6 months old. My sister Anna Tavenor was baptized by Mr. Richard Hobbs at the place aforsaid the 14 day of March 1675 being 24 years old. My brother Samuel Tavenor was baptized in the river near Nicolas Holingbury's by Mr. Richard Hobbs: April 1, 1677, being 25 years old. My brother John Tavenor was baptized in the river near Nicolas Holingbury's by Mr. Richard Hobbs the 15 of July in the year 1676 being 24 years old. My brother David Tavenor was baptized in the river aforsaid by Mr. Richard Cannan July 13, 1679, being 22 years old. My brother Thomas Tavenor was baptized in the river aforsaid by Mr. Richard Cannan September 14, 1680, being 20 years old. My dear and loving mother Anna the daughter of Mr. Richard Gibbs died the 4 day of January being Thursday and was buried the sixth day of the same month being Saturday (and twelfth day) in Deale Church over against Deale Castle pew in the ally by her 3 children Thomas, Elizabeth and Benjamin, she being two and forty years old and had been married sixteen years seven weeks and five days. She died in the year 1665. [Note that the year did not change until March; Anna died about 12 days after the birth of her son Benjamin.] My brother Thomas Tavenor died the sixth of June in Deale Castle being about 13 weeks old and was buried in Deale Church the 10 of the same June in the alley over against the Castle pew door in the year 1659. My sister Elizabeth Tavenor died the 13 day of January & was buried the 15 of the same month in Deale Church over against the Castle pew door in the alley being 4 and forty days old. She died on Wednesday about five of the clock in the evening in the year 1663. My brother Benjamin Tavenor died the 28 of December about 4 in the afternoon being Thursday and was buried the thirtieth of the same month in the alley over against Deale Castle pew in Deale Church in the year 1665. My brother James Tavenor died the fourth of November and was buried in Deale Church yard near the wall on the South side right against Deale Castle pew being the first day of the week and he was aged 5 years 7 months and 15 days. He died of the pestilence in the year 1666. My sister Anna Tavenor was married to William Adcock on August the 18 being Friday at my father's house in Dover: 1676. My brother Nathaniell Tavenor was married September the 18 being Wednesday to Mary Mapsdon in the year 1678. My father Mr. Samuel Tavenor was ordained an elder of the Congregation of baptized believers in and about Dover: by Mr. William Smartt and Mr. Benjamin Morly: at Gurson October 13, 1681: the same time my brother John Tavenor was chose a deacon for the Church at Deale. My brother William Adcock died March 26 being Saturday and was buried March 28 being Monday in Rith Church yard: in the year 1681. My sister Anna Adcock died September 14 at 10 in the morning: it being Wednesday: and was buried September 16 being Friday in Rith Church yard: beside her husband and her child in the year 1681, being 30 years 8 months and 14 days old. My dear and loving brother Samuel Tavenor died January the tenth being Wednesday about seven of the clock in the morning: and was buried Friday the twelfth of January in the piece of ground belonging to the Congregation of Baptized Believers in Dover: in the year 1682/3: he was thirty years 8 months and 14 days old. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord the Righteous Judge shall give me at that day and not to me only butt to all them also that love his Appearing. His death & premature birth was owing to his mother having a violent inflammation. I have great reason to be thankful that the Mother's life was spared. P.P. My much respected cousin Sampson Kingsford 2nd son of William & Mary Kingsford was born at Sturry near Canterbury in the year 1750 and in the year 1766 at the early age of 16 he was baptized, and on the 2nd day of December 1770 he was called to the Ministry at the Friars Canterbury and on the 3rd September 1781 he was called to the office of Elder & Messenger a primitive office still retained by the general Baptist, and that day forty years [later] Sept 3 1821 he was consigned to the silent tomb age 71. Died Aug 27, 1821 P.P. He was a man greatly beloved. My daughter Jane Peirce was married at St Mary's Church Dover Oct 1821 to William Brent the son of Samuel Brent Esq of Eliot Place, Blackheath. Morris Monday afternoon 16 minutes after two o'clock age 7 years & 5 months; a very amiable & pious child. P. Peirce Buried in a new vault my daughter bought under the new Meeting House. June 1, 1825 died Oscar Tavenor Brent at Lewisham age 1 year & 9 months & second son of William & Jane Brent, buried in the family vault at Deptford Baptist Ground. P. Peirce [Mr Fordham's hand] *July 12th 1826 Oscar fourth child of William and Jane Brent was born in Castle Street Canterbury and died at Dover aged 10 weeks and 5 days. It was buried in a piece of ground on the right hand of the gravel walk leading to the meeting in the meeting yard .. the ground, sufficient for a bricked grave for a grown up person was bought by Mrs Priscilla Peirce the grandmother of this infant. Midwife Mrs Jendomer. In attendance Mrs Marshall and P. Peirce. Conrad Hugo Brent son of William & Jane died May 10th 1828 age 6 weeks buried at Dover P. Peirce. Harrette Rollestone Brent daughter of William & Jane Brent died at her grandmama Peirce's home at Dover Nov 9th 1829. Was much beloved, age four years & eight months. She was buried beside her brothers in the general Baptist Meeting ground. P. Peirce William Brent left his wife in Ivy Lane June (?) 1831, came to [1 line illegible] Mrs Brent returned to her husband April 12, 1832. On the 19th July Anno Domini 1832 my eldest daughter Priscilla E. Morris married her second husband Mr Elias Pym Fordham the son of Mr Elias Fordham of Gunnock in the Parish of Sandover in the county of Herts. The marriage was solemnized in the church at Sturry near Canterbury. Mr Sampson Kingsford of Sturry Mills acted as father to the bride. The officiating minister was the Reverend John Metcalf, a minor canon of Canterbury Cathedral. My son-in-law Mr Elias Fordham is descended from an ancient and at the present time a very numerous family who are chiefly farmers and landowners in several parishes in the counties of Herts. & Cambridge in the neighbourhood of Royston. His father was educated for the ministry and has preached for more than twenty-five years without any pecuniary reward. My son-in-law is a Civil Engineer and was appointed Engineer of Dover Harbour on the 25th day of last April, the Duke of Wellington being Lord Warden. P. Peirce Died August 13th 1832 age 77 my cousin Michael Kingsford Gentleman of Charlton Lodge near Dover, buried in a vault at Charlton Church. He was the youngest and only surviving son of Mary Kingsford the daughter of Sampson and Susanna Peirce P. Peirce. My poor dear child Jane Brent closed this life December 6, 1832, aged 36 years at her house at Deptford after a boisterous passage to the tomb and was buried in the family vault of the Brents in the general Baptist ground at Deptford. [Before her] death I had been with her twelve weeks and it was a solemn satisfaction to feel she was at rest where the wicked cease from troubling. She trusted in her God through life, and in death she looked for salvation from the grave through Christ Jesus her risen Lord. She left one son Bernard Peirce Brent age about ten years who returned with me to Dover where he went to school. When shall I lay down my pen and my only surviving daughter Fordham take up the pen to tell my death. P. Peirce aged 70 years. Aug 26 1839 died Mrs Priscilla Kingsford age ? buried beside her father my much esteemed friend & cousin Sampson Kingsford in the family vault at Friars, Canterbury.P. Peirce age 77 [Priscilla Fordham's hand] Mrs Susanna Child died March 13th 1848 aged 96. A Mother in Israel Priscilla Peirce died 27 Oct 1848 aged 87, buried beside her beloved husband & Father in the family vault Dover. Bernard Peirce Brent April 26th 1849 married to Laura the youngest daughter of the late Edward Marsh. They were married at Bessel's Green by the Rev Briggs Sen. They are living at the Green. Priscilla E. Fordham At Barton Julia Brent died at her father's house May 27th 1849, and was buried in the family vault of the Brents at the General Baptist ground at Deptford. Aged 39 P.E. Mrs Priscilla Ebenezer Fordham died at Charlton near Dover August 30th 1856 aged 66 years, interred in a vault in the yard of the Old (Unitarian) General Baptist Meeting House, Bessel's Green, Kent Sept 4th 1856 Mr Elias Pym Fordham died at Cassel near Dover October 1850 and was buried in a brick grave in Tavenor's Garden Dover. He was the second husband of Priscilla Ebenezer Peirce. She erected the tomb over his grave and the old family vault. Owing to the Health of Towns act this ground was closed which was the reason of her being interred near Bessel's Green. William Edward Brent seventh child of Bernard Peirce Brent and Laura his wife born August 9th, 1857, at Castle Farm, Dallington, in the county of Sussex. William Edward Brent died at Dallington Sussex January 11th 1858 at 20 minutes ro 3 o'clock in the morning aged 6 months and 1 day. Benjamin Henry Brent, eighth child of Bernard Peirce Brent and Laura his wife born May 22nd 1859 a little before 2 o'clock in the morning being Sunday at Hood's Corner, Dallington, Sussex. He married Sarah Copet of Poinster near Emsworth, Herts. had 5 children and died August 19th, 1780. John Brent born November 14th 1729 married Anne Waterman (born 22nd May 1728), had 6 children, died July 1st 1812. Samuel Brent born April 12th, 1760. Married Frances Dempster Barton. Had nine children. Died June 19th 1814. Mrs Samuel Brent was born 1761 died September 14th, 1835. William Brent born at Rotherhithe August 5th 1799, married Jane Peirce of Dover 1821 - 5 children. I think it was in the following summer that Grandpapa William Brent died at Battle, Sussex. Laura Brent my mother died at Buxted on the 13th of March 1869 and was buried at Buxted beside my brother & father (of consumption). Ellen Bourne of Ash died in January 1870. ARB Jane Peirce fourth child of B & L Brent was married at Ashford about 1877 to William A. Forth, chemist. Her children were Harry Brent - died in infancy, Dorothy Beatrice, James Douglas, Bertha C. and Marguerite. She died in London about 1916. Her husband died a year or two later. ARB Julia Marianne, third child of B & L Brent was married to Samuel Walshe Owen whose mother was a daughter of Frances Brent's. He practised medicine in London. He died in 1916. His widow died at Horsham Victoria Australia on the 26th Oct 1921 & was buried in Horsham cemetery. Her husband was buried at (?)head Cemetery. ARB Benjamin Henry, eighth child of B & L Brent was married to Caroline Wilson of Beckenham, Kent about 1881. One child Irene Marguerite Peirce born about 1904. B. H. Brent died 17th January 1925 at 30 Manor Rd, Beckenham, Kent in his 66th year. Brent. Sir Isaac Newton was a posthumous son. His mother afterwards married Rev. Barnabus Smith, by whom she had three daughters. One married Mr. Ware [Incorrect - actually Sir Isaac Newton's mother had a daughter Hannah Smith who married Rev. Robert Barton; one of their daughters Margaret (born 1687) married John Warner, who is presumably the Mr. Ware referred to], their daughter Sarah married Redding Peirce, their son Sampson married Priscilla Peirce. I told them both that I did not refuse any body to bury in the Burying Ground that asked me. Mr Isaac Fuller said he should ask his wife to bury his child without my leave and he was carried through Mr Polly's Ground where the fence was down and not in the gate way that lead to the Burying Ground.
