My poor dear child Jane Brent closed this life December 6, 1832, aged 36 years at her house at Deptford after a boisterous passage to the tomb and was buried in the family vault of the Brents in the general Baptist ground at Deptford. [Before her] death I had been with her twelve weeks and it was a solemn satisfaction to feel she was at rest where the wicked cease from troubling. She trusted in her God through life, and in death she looked for salvation from the grave through Christ Jesus her risen Lord. She left one son Bernard Peirce Brent age about ten years who returned with me to Dover where he went to school. When shall I lay down my pen and my only surviving daughter Fordham take up the pen to tell my death. P. Peirce aged 70 years.

Nov. 1804 Mr Isaac Fuller and Mr Jul. Igglesden met on the Rope Walk. I told them both that I did not refuse any body to bury in the Burying Ground that asked me. Mr Isaac Fuller said he should ask his wife to bury his child without my leave and he was carried through Mr Polly's Ground where the fence was down and not in the gate way that lead to the Burying Ground.
[A sheet of paper in Bernard Peirce Brent's hand, pasted into the diary, repeats this in more legible form with the additional remarks that the Rope Walk is now 1856 Waterloo Crescent and that the Burying Ground is now called Tavernor's Garden.]
