Planned Pregnancy Data: A total of 678 women with planned pregnancies were interviewed. Women were classified as smokers it they reported smoking one cigarette a day or more during the first cycle when they were trying to get pregnant. (Baird and Wilcox, 1985).  The data are Table 236 in Hand et al. (1994).
Chronic Hepatitis Data: Data from a controlled clinical trial for prednisone therapy for chronic active hepatitis.  The original source is Gut 21:78-83. Data are Table 423 in Hand et al. 1994.
Survival of radio-tagged female black ducks:  Data are from Pollock, K. H., Winterstein, S. R., and Conroy, M. J. 1989: Estimation and analysis of survival distributions for radio-tagged animals.  Biometrics 45: 99-109.
