Numerical solution of nonlinear equations

25. R. P. Brent, Numerical solution of nonlinear equations, Department of Computer Science, Stanford University, March 1975, 189 pp.

Abstract

These are lecture notes for a graduate course taught at Stanford University in 1975. The topics covered include algorithms for the solution of equations in both one and several variables, and analysis of their convergence properties.

Comments

These notes should have been converted into a book (as was originally intended), but too much time has now elapsed and part of the material is obsolete. For related work see Brent et al [8, 11, 12, 14, 16].
