Textbook:

  • Stephen D. Fisher, Complex Variables (2nd edition), Dover, ISBN 0-486-40679-2
  • You are not required to purchase any textbook, as long as you learn the material and get a way to figure out the homework problems.
  • Some supplementary reading material can be found on Sakai under the Resources section.

Grading Scheme:

  • Final Exam: 200 points
  • Two mid-term Exams: 100 points each, held in class on February 24, 2011 (Thursday) and on April 12, 2011 (Tuesday)
  • Quizzes: 10 points each. These are to be held in class every Tuesday (unless otherwise specified). These will be about homework problems that are assigned the previous Tuesday (see below). The two lowest scores will be dropped.

Homework:

  • Homework will be assigned every Tuesday. You do not need to turn them in. However, you will be quizzed about them the next Tuesday in class.
  • All homework will be assigned from the textbook unless otherwise specified.
  • * The starred problems are optional; you are encouraged to solve them though if you are more advanced or if you are a math major.
